Out There is a project that celebrates the extraordinary and the obvious and maximises one of the most valuable resources: your own doorstep. Venturing beyond the school gate, stepping out into the outside world, learning professionals guide the children around their square mile, listening, watching and experiencing the world around them. What’s that? What is it for? Who lives there? ……… many questions that can lead to discovery and knowledge about the children’s own locality and their experience of it.

This collection of interactive resources have been produced to support an after-school club named the Coyote Club. The resources explore topics such as feelings, emotions, family, hobbies, positive thinking and consequences. The resources can be used as standalone activities, or embedded into lessons to enhance learning.

Activity for pupils to think about and investigate bread and sandwiches using photographs and teacher-led discussion

This resources pack introduces pupils to the idea of repeating patterns of an ABAB design, and then to an AABAAB design. Pupils look at colour patterns, shape patterns and picture patterns using Welsh emblems. They have the opportunity to finish off patterns which have been started using colours, shapes and pictures. Pupils create their own colour patterns using a worksheet of different shapes. Desirable outcomes: recognise and recreate simple patterns, recognise and name colours and recognise and name simple shapes.

The calendar is a collection of tasks and activities related to seasonal changes in the weather and how this in turn affects plants, animals, birds, food and farming. Key features in January and February : •Winter weather •Big Schools’ Birdwatch 2009 The project aims to encourage pupils to engage and observe nature and also to motivate them to produce their own digital calendar.

Interactive resource Learning objectives: * know and order the months of the year * understand that the year is divided into four distinct seasons * recognise differences in the environment between seasons * observe and record seasonal change * understand that different weather conditions have an effect upon living things A series of interactive whiteboard screens provide pupils with information and activities related to the seasons. The screens provide an opportunity for pupils to observe, question, sort and record.

A series of PowerPoint presentations to aid in the teaching of fractions

An interactive whiteboard resource exploring oral expression. Pupils describe images to a partner, constuct an oral story from key words and describe a diary entry, based on events in a day. These activities should teach pupils to be confident in describing pictures and events and improve their creative storytelling. They should also help pupils to understand the differences between speaking to an audience and speaking to a friend, in descriptive language and reporting.

A set of matching activities in the form of an interactive game of Snap. Pupils are required to match: pictures, shapes and colours. This resource can also be accessed by switch users via a switch interface which emulates the enter key. Suitable for older pupils with SEN

This unit introduces children to the conventions of a myth through the story of Dwynwen. They are then challenged to write their own Welsh myth by choosing character and problem cards as stimulus for their writing.

A series of project packs for 5-11 created by 6 Cardiff Primary Schools to initiate project work with their partner schools in Somaliland. Pupils look at and explore a variety of homes such as a house, a flat, a caravan and a bungalow, and talk about what sort of home they live in. Pupils also look at house numbers and complete sorting and matching games involving numbers 1-9. This resource pack allows pupils to find differences and similarities between well-known fairy stories. They look at six scenes and characters from six fairy tales and then put them into the correct storybook. Pupils make a chart that compares characters and incidents in fairy tales. Pupils have the opportunity to make their own fairy tale, adding pictures and text from a large bank of images and props.

This interactive activity aims to encourage pupils to learn number bonds to 10. They will play a pairs game using both numerals and picture prompts. They will then go on to develop problem-solving skills with simple word problems using number facts to 10.
